Description:
Looking for a team player to serve in the position of Operations Floater at both South and East Feedlots in Broken Bow, NE. This individual would work in a variety of areas as need arises. These areas include: East Lot, Cattle Distribution, Pen Checking, Cattle Logistics. This a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual who enjoys variety in their schedule, while also gaining a better understanding of the feedlot operations as a whole.



This person is responsible for:

-Being accountable for cattle health in assigned pens.

-Detecting sick or injured cattle and pulling them to the adjacent hospital pen.

-Assisting with the flow of cattle to and from the processing/sorting facility.

-Taking home processed cattle, pulling wrong penners, and helping in other areas.

-Coordinating animal locations and movements with other departments.

-Assisting with the unloading and movement of incoming cattle.

-Moving, verifying, counting, and shipping outgoing cattle.

-Ensuring general care for your horses (i.e. shoeing, vaccinations, feeding).

-Assisting in other areas as needed (i.e. non-horse work, operating equipment, light maintenance).



Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

-Ability to work fluctuating hours, weekends, and holidays, in addition to being on an on-call weekend rotation.

-Previous cattle handling knowledge and experience.

-Intermediate to advanced horsemanship skills.

-Knowledge of sick or injured cattle.

-Ability to adapt to multiple teams, supervisors/managers, environments, and job-related tasks.

-Basic mechanical skills and heavy equipment experience are preferred, but not required.

-Ability to use analytical skills for problem solving and taking initiative.

-Basic computer skills are required.

-Commitment to safety and quality culture.



This position requires:

-Individual must provide three (3) head of horses.

-Ability to work fluctuating hours, weekends, and holidays, in addition to being on an on-call weekend rotation.

-Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally; 25-50 pounds of force frequently; 10-20 pounds constantly. Standing and sitting frequently; occasionally walking, carrying, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, crawling, stairs, reaching/handling/grasping, and kneeling/crouching.

-Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, if needed.
