Pasture Location: 5100 acres on the Gene Howe Wildlife Management Area near Canadian, Texas, which is 2 hours northeast of Amarillo, Texas. Cows will be run in three herds and rotated through 2 to 6 pastures. I’ve experienced great animal performance here. Per my lease and wildlife management objectives, we’re only stocking this country at a rate of about 42 acres per cow. This is normally 25 acre/cow type of rangeland, making for plenty of grazing selectivity and better than average animal performance. With adapted cows, I’d expect a breedup in the low to mid 90’s and a weaning weight near 600. 2015 weaned an 8 month old calf at 613 lbs average for implanted steer calves and unimplanted heifer calves.
