Description:
A PART-TIME CARETAKER position is available on a working ranch/breeding/training facility in Southern Oklahoma near the OK/TX stateline. Hourly pay plus fully furnished, nicely appointed private living accommodations that include paid utilities, satellite tv, laundry, and trash disposal.

The ideal candidate will be mature,(PREFERABLY 50 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER), honest, dependable, conscientious, and have no physical limitations or impairments that would prevent him or her from walking, doing some light lifting, and performing various tasks that include feeding and checking horses and livestock, checking and filling water troughs,and occasionally leading horses. Riding skills ARE NOT required but would be appreciated. This position would be ideal for someone who is semi-retired, retired, or a single female seeking a secure and peaceful living environment.

Preliminary qualifications for this position include the following:

1. General knowledge of the care, handling, and treatment of horses and livestock, including but not limited to the daily operations, responsibilities, and obligations associated with life on a working ranch and/or training/breeding facility;

2. Verifiable past history of residing and/or working on a farm, ranch, or professional training/breeding facility which had more than 20 head of horses, preferably Quarter Horses, and cattle;

3. Verifiable RECENT experience as a caretaker who resided on a farm or working ranch (within the last 1-2 years) and performed tasks that included handling horses and/or working with and around horses, preferably Quarter Horses.

This is a part-time position that includes a couple hours of chores daily and more hours as required when the owners are away occasionally for the day or for perhaps an extended time not to exceed 10 days. The ideal candidate will be professional in appearance and demeanor, and demonstrate the desire, dedication, and appreciation for stable, long term employment in a peaceful, secure environment that offers numerous benefits.

Due to space limitations in housing, this position is best suited for a single person. No couples or extended family members. Visitors are permitted with prior approval from management. No horse trainers. No outside horses or horse related businesses. No drugs, no excessive drinking, no loud or wild parties, no felons, and absolutely NO DRAMA. Don’t steal from us, don’t try to take advantage of us, don’t mistreat our horses, livestock, or other animals, don’t ask to borrow money from us, and don’t mistake our kindness for weakness. We will show you the same respect and consideration and will go beyond what the average employer does to show our appreciation.

According to the laws of the State of Oklahoma, as an equine business with equine related activities we are not responsible or liable for accidents or injuries so please make sure you are self insured and/or willing to sign an indemnity agreement. We are protective of our ranch and our personal assets and have a duty to protect our clients’ best interests and assets as well. While we are flexible about most things, these terms are non-negotiable.

We are easy to get along with and have found over the years that clearly defined boundaries and full understanding and adherence to our rules and policies creates the most mutually beneficial working relationship for all parties. In exchange, we will provide the most qualified and suitable candidate the opportunity to live and work part-time in a peaceful, stable, secure environment on a longterm basis.

There are numerous outside employment opportunities in the immediate area, including but not limited to WinStar World Casino. There may also be project or other ranch related work for someone with the required skills and qualifications.
