Enjoy working outside, don’t mind getting dirty! Must be a self-starter and good at working alone or with others. Farming Practices: • Organic farming • Intensive grazing operation • Growing pastured based slow food Farm chores include: Feeding & caring for horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, dogs & cats Working cattle, sheep & pigs Castrating, vaccinating, trimming hooves, etc. Taking care of horses, cleaning stalls Putting up hay, both square and round bales Building fence Cutting wood Repairing buildings, new construction Equipment maintenance Planting/renovating pastures Gardening Skills needed: • Must be in good health • Able to pick up and load 50-75lb bales • Unload 50lb bags of feed • Drivers license • Knowledgeable in horse care • Comfortable working with large livestock • Must like animals! Must be knowledgeable about horses. We board retired horses, some have health issues that we need to stay on top of. Other experience in equipment maintenance, construction, plumbing, welding, electrical, and gardening is desirable. The position comes with salary, housing, a side of beef and other meats produced on the farm, farm raised eggs, and produce from the garden. Farming is hard work and long hours. A great lifestyle if you like living the farm life! We are searching for the right long term couple to help us expand our operation.
