Looking for someone to help me with day-to-day chores around my small ranch. I raise cutting horses. I am a disabled Veteran and often have difficulty getting around. I can tell you that getting old is not for sissies. I am however a very independent person. I am willing to teach someone with the right attitude for learning and following directions anything I know, which may not be much :) Basic skills that would be very helpful but not necessary are ability to operate farm equipment, welding equipment, mechanical skills, building fence, doctoring animals. At least some experience with horses both ground work and riding skills would be helpful. I have cattle sometimes and although helpful to have knowledge of cattle it is not a necessity. Duties would include daily feeding/ watering horses and cattle when I have them and sometimes helping out with the dogs. Cleaning stalls and runs (although horses are out to pasture most of the time). Exercising horses both on the ground in my small round pen as well as riding. No cutting experience is necessary. Maintaining fencing, gates and building some new fence that I need as time allows. Other minor building maintenance. Snow removal during the winter months and mowing/ weed management in the summer months. Along with other little things that need to be done around here to keep the place looking neat and tidy. This can be a part time position allowing a person to work outside should they so choose. I really don’t need a full time person working 40 hours per week I am estimating 20-25 hours per week max. I can provide a modest living quarters which is a remodeled motorhome so it is like a small one bedroom apartment including all utilities along with a small monthly salary. No problems keeping a horse or 2 of your own here, you’ll have to buy your own hay though. We are located in northeast New Mexico. The weather here is a lot better than the winters of Wyoming or Montana and summers are not near as hot as Arizona or Texas. We are tucked into the entrance of a canyon so we are out of most of the wind and at the foothills of the mountains in the pine trees. We have a nice 4 seasons with mild winters (but we do have snow) and cool summers. It has never been above 90 with very little humidity all the time I have lived here and most summer days are 78-85. I am married, my wife is a school teacher. We have 2 sons between us (neither lives here) and one grandchild.
