I have been around cattle all of my life, from the pasture to the show ring. I was on the board of trustees for the American Jr. Simmental Assoc. for 2 years, and was very involved in the Angus breed as well. I Participated in 4-H for 15 years, and was active in the FFA all 4 years in high school. I know my way around the purebred industry as well as the commercial side. I managed a 3000 head Yearling intensive grazing operation for a year, then moved on to work for a large registered Angus breeder in Western NE. As of now, my current adventure has taken me to Russia where i have been working since Feb. 1st teaching the Russians every aspect of the beef and ranching industry. Its been an amazing experience, but due to transportation reasons from the states to here, I’m sad to say i will be heading home again soon. I’m searching for a life long ranch hand/management position anywhere in the US. I hate to be picky, but i would like to work for a large operation, commercial or registered, that uses 4-wheeler’s, but also knows the correct time to park the machine and saddle up a horse. I’m an experienced rider, and a beginner roper but i get more practice every day here in Russia where one of my main responsibilities is checking close to 500 pairs every day. We run 6000 mamma cows on 3 different ranches, so were always staying busy. Experience -Clipping and fitting cattle, with some experience in torching as well. -Pasture Doctoring on foot, ATV, or horse -Calving -Pulling, tagging, injections, sewing up a uterine prolapse. -Branding, Vaccinating, and Tattooing -Artificial Insemination (Certified) -Can run a hydrolic chute, as well as a manual -Drive John Deere tractors, and run a bale processor, but don’t know much about other implements or haying. -Skidloader -Pull and back up a trailer -Basic maintenance on equipment. -Changing oil, batteries, tires, ect. -Have some experience with water wells -Generators, wiring pumps, windmills Fencing -Electric and high tencil - Barbed wire -Continuous fence and guard rail -Grass management -Weed control -Countless other skills! I also have a dog. She is a corgi, border collie, catahoula mix and is very good around cows. I would like to bring her along, but she doesn’t have to work (I know dogs just aren’t the right fit for some ranches). My email is ktgerman76@gmail.com.
