Population 282 About the operation: We are a 3 person Cow-Calf operation located in Central Nevada in the small town of Lund, Nevada. Population 282. This ranch consists of 720 acres of deeded pastures, a 35,000 acre 12 month BLM range and a 16,000 acre forest permit. We run 600 Cow Calf Pairs Angus/Hereford. We breed and retain our own replacement heifers. Job Duties: • This position requires a person with extensive knowledge in all phases of cattle production from breeding to weaning including calving, pasture doctoring, branding, tagging and feeding. • The person for this position must have experience with flood irrigating, operating and maintaining pivots, and basic mechanical skills. • Must be able to calve out heifers. • Horsemanship is a must! Riding skills and roping skills are necessary to do this job. Must be able to pasture rope and catch and tie off. Horses will be provided if necessary. • Fencing: We build and repair our own fences. Must be able to repair and build strong and straight 5 wire fences. • Preferably be able to preg test. • Preferably hold a Class A (CDL) valid driving license. Ranch owns semi-truck with cattle to haul cattle between other operations. • Must be willing to work 6 days per week. (Monday thru Saturday). Compensation Package: • This is a full time, non-seasonal – long term position. • Competitive salary based on skills and experience. • Housing and utilities provided, (not satellite TV). • Ranch truck and ATV provided. • Employee health insurance provided. Family health insurance offered. • 401K benefits offered with company match. • 2 weeks paid vacation per year. • Sundays off each week (other than feeding). • Position reports to Livestock Manager. Candidates must: • The employee for this position must be punctual, dependable, have common sense, and treat co-workers, animals and equipment with respect. • Be willing to work in an isolated area, 30 miles to basic services. • Candidate must be clean cut and a non-smoker, with no drug use. • Must be willing to self-manage and work alone but also be able to work well with others. • Candidate must be organized and help develop long term goals. • Candidate must be willing to “think outside the box” and be innovative with problem solving. Candidates must successfully complete: • Drug test (not just at application time but also random tests due to driving responsibilities.) • Criminal background test. • Personality test administered by a 3rd party service. • Work references must be provided and will be checked.
