This all-around gelding is the whole package! Take him to a branding, load him up and head to the show or a play day right after, he’ll be ready. He has always been the barn favorite, not just for his flashy looks, but his personality too. Not only is he as smart as they come, he is the sweetest horse you will find. He wants to be your best friend and is always the first to greet you with a nicker and follows you around the pasture. Pete has a versatile background in the arena and outside on the ranch. He has been shown in the ranch horse versatility classes, stock horse events, and started on the heel side. Just handy broke and gentle for the whole family. Pete has a great one-hand neck rein, flawless lead departures (never missing his leads), big stop, soft handle, guides off your legs alone, and has a nice sidepass. He has carried flags, been in parades, used to halter break babies, and give lessons on. Just an all-around, experienced using horse. Pete has been ridden by beginners all the way to advanced riders. He is used at a rodeo bible camp every year for any kids who need a horse to ride. Last year, Pete gave an 8 year old boy the confidence to trot for the first time and completed a trail pattern on him during the showcase. He has seen real ranch work doctoring, dragging calves to the fire, sorting, shipping, gathering, loading trucks, tagging calves, opening gates, checking fence, it’s no stranger to him. He’s plenty capable of getting the job done and appreciates new adventures. Up the mountain trails or through the canyons, he always knows where his feet are. While some horses hesitate at water crossings, Pete seeks it out riding through rivers, creeks, or any body of water you may run into. I’ve found myself thanking Pete many times for keeping me from a wreck in the branding pen. He knows where to be and how to handle himself during all the commotion. I am not a great roper, but he holds no judgement, puts me where I need to be, and makes it fun! He has roped the sled on the heel side and puts himself in the same, correct position every time. Pete is used to all kinds of craziness: bawling calves, angry mama cows, irritated bulls, loud machinery, tarps, dogs, kids running around, riding 4 wheelers; he’s accustomed to all the things any family does on a daily basis and then some. You can ride him western style, bareback, war bridle, or bridle less, you will have fun doing it; I guarantee it! Clippers, baths, blanketing, vaccinations, deworming, shoeing, doesn’t matter, Pete is a gentleman for all of it. I’ve had this horse since I started him as a two year old. I know I will miss Pete greatly, but I trust he’ll go to his forever home and make his next person their next top horse. He has straight, clean legs, no soundness issues or bad habits. He has a heart the size of Texas and will give his all every time, no matter the job.
