Feedlot Supervisor

Position Overview:

Crawford Cattle is looking for an honest and dependable Feedlot Supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations on a 3,000 head backgrounding lot. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and innovative and would take responsibility for observing and understanding cattle condition and health. Have the ability to keep meticulous records of inventory, feed usage, gains, health reports etc. and improve and maintain feedlot infrastructure and equipment. The Feedlot supervisor would also be given charge over the Crawford Cattle bull battery and would ensure bulls were in proper condition before being turned out for breeding season. Additionally, the Feedlot Supervisor would be responsible for the development and continued training of 1-2 full-time and intermittent part-time employees. The successful candidate will take responsibility and ownership, be teachable, work hard, communicate effectively and respectfully with other ranch employees and represent the ranch in a positive way at all times.

Skills/Education Required:

To be considered for this position the candidate must have a basic skill set including:

• Leadership and communications skills

• Receive and ship, vaccinate, feed, doctor, class, weight and count, weaned calves

• Cattle processing skills including handling, branding, castrating and administering shots effectively

• A practical understanding of ruminant nutrition

• Willingness to continuously improve and maintain infrastructure (welding, carpentry experience)

• Time management skills and ability to prioritize and get work done within appropriate time frames including the ability to work without direct supervision

• Basic computer skills including email, Microsoft word and excel

Other qualifications required:

• Valid Driver license

• Bachelors Degree or 5 years of experience on a feedlot

• Speaking Spanish is not required but would give an applicant a competitive advantage

Benefits:

Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s education and experience. Crawford Cattle offers a monthly stipend to put towards health insurance for you and your family. In addition, ranch housing will be provided and utilities covered by Crawford Cattle. Beef will also be provided from time-to-time.

About Us:

Crawford Cattle LLC is a growing commercial cattle company that operates four expansive cattle ranches throughout Northern Nevada. To Date Crawford cattle runs approximately 5,000 mother cows on over 1 million acres of both private and federal grazing lands.

The Greyson Feedlot is located at the Greyson Ranch and has a capacity of approximately 3,000 head and receives cattle to be backgrounded from the four main cattle operations owned by Crawford Cattle LLC.
