Description:
Seeking Ranch Hand / Couple for a registered cattle ranch near the SW Oklahoma border.  This is a long-term position. The couple will be responsible for primarily cattle care and feeding at the headquarters.  The main property is 10,000+ ac with 2 grass pivots, rest and rotational grazing is done in the summer an extensive water system, and some wheat pasture.   The primary focus is overseeing and care of yearling bulls and heifers, and the cow herd.  This includes mixing and delivering feed, feed inventory management, checking cattle health, Water system and electric fence maintenance, working and doctoring cattle as needed, and servicing/maintaining ranch equipment.  Compensation package includes salary, bonus opportunity, truck for ranch use, housing on-site, with utilities, 1/2 beef annually, monthly health insurance allowance, and 401K after one year, and paid vacation. Hay for up to 4 ranch use horses.

 

Ranch Location:  4 miles all-weather road to pavement.  Total of 30 minutes to Wal-Mart.



Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee and care of replacement bulls and heifers.

• Mix and deliver feed.

• Feed ingredient inventory management.

• Maintenance of water system and electric fences.

• Work and doctor cattle as needed.

• Service and maintain ranch equipment.



Secondary Responsibilities:

• Farming of wheat ground.

• Mowing pastures and roads.

• Preparing for the annual sale event.

• Application of herbicides to manage habitat.



Primary Requirements:

• 10+ years of strong leadership/experience working with all phases of livestock, registered cattle experience is a plus.  Handy horseback is a must.  

• Good mechanical, ability to weld, operate a skid steer, tractor and truck skills are a plus.

• Ability to communicate with cattle customers, contractors, and veterinarians.

• Physically able to work outdoors in all types of weather and on uneven terrain.

General Requirements:

• Oversee/keep the property at a guest-ready level at all times.

• Must be flexible with work schedule, most days are 7-5 but not all.

• Must be able to pass criminal background screen and hold a valid driver’s license.

• Professionally represent the ranch at all times.

• Excellent people skills.
