HP Livestock has 2 locations outside of Cody and one in Burlington. The position will be responsible for supporting a large-scale irrigated pasture cattle operation with focus on cattle care, and operating and maintaining all associated ranch equipment. Heavy equipment and pivot operation experience a strong plus. HP Livestock is a rapidly growing ranch operation looking for an individual who is willing and eager to learn, hard-working, handy, safety-oriented, and a self-starter able to take initiative as part of a fast-growing ranch. Our ranch draws on progressive soil, grass, and cattle management principles from Bud Williams, Jim Gerrish, Gabe Brown and others to optimize performance. We are looking for an individual who is focused on excellence and constant improvement in irrigation, equipment, and cattle management. Housing provided (utility costs paid by ranch). This is a full-time position and may have JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Independently manage rotational grazing for yearling herd on pivot irrigated and pasture ground utilizing electric fencing. • Operate and maintain ranch irrigation systems • Operate heavy equipment for ranch infrastructure improvement projects. Infrastructure projects include, but are not limited too, property fencing and stock water development pipelines, ponds and land clearing. • Plant annual forage crops as directed / needed. this is not a farm but we do plant some forage crops to be grazed. • Position may occasionally assist with summer season mountain operation (horseback cattle moves) • Work as part of a team to background and feed cattle in a small-scale feedlot • Operate feed truck daily • Provide ideas/concepts and collaborate with ranch owner for efficient backgrounding / cattle feeding operation • Prepare for and support cattle shipping to mountain pastures in late spring • assist with Receiving of feed commodities delivered to ranch including hay, straw, and corn silage. • assist with Maintaining all heavy equipment including loader, tractor, feed wagon, seed drill and various other equipment. • Carry out welding / corral building and maintenance projects REQUIREMENTS: • Valid Drivers License • Equipment operating ability (Feed truck, Skidsteer, Loader, Excavator, Dozer) or willingness to learn • Welding experience is a very strong plus but we can teach the willing. • Cattle experience a strong plus • Must be willing and eager to learn new cattle handling and irrigation methods • Able to move / lift / maneuver up to 50 lbs there is a lot of opportunity to grow with HP livestock. we have 3 ranch locations and the right person could have the opportunity to find themselves at one of the other locations for the summer season. this is a full time position but we would entertain a seasonal position as well. housing can accommodate single or married persons.
