We do things a little different round here. No grain, no poison, no bs. We work with nature to heal the land and the people who eat our quality meats. We raise cattle, sheep, and goats from birth to finish, then we sell the meat to local customers. We move the herds daily to ensure the land gets healthier with each grazing, allowing full recovery of the grasses before coming back to graze again. We do not use dewormers to control parasites. We do not use herbicides or pesticides. We produce our own hay without the use of chemical fertilizer, -icides or chicken manure. We plant cover crops both spring/summer annuals and fall/winter annuals. As you can see, we do things a little different, and that list just barely scratches the surface. Come be a part of something that is truly amazing and fulfilling. As the land heals, so do we. The 1 yr apprenticeship will give you an understanding of everything we do so that you can implement on your own (somewhere else or if the boot fits, here as a part of the CCF team). Experience with livestock is preferred but not necessary as you will need to unlearn many of the other things you have learned at other places. Like I said, we do things VERY different. A lot of ranch work is grunt work, but I am the owner/manager and I do the grunt work, too. No bad attitudes, no complaining. Looking for the right 1 or 2 persons with a can do attitude and a joy for life. Counter Culture is a way of life. Dont need no Debbie downers out here. Salary - $1k per month plus free housing (it’s nice = ~$500+ free rent) and weekly beef and eggs produced on farm. And garden space if you want to raise some veggies. Work is ~40-50 hours per week but can be more or less depending on the week. That adds up to be about $2k per month with the benefits. You need to bring your own car so you can do what you want on your down time. We do have a truck at the ranch for you to haul livestock or do other pickups/dropoffs or anything else we might need, but these expenses are covered. There is a lot more to it but that gives you a pretty good idea of what we are all about.
