Responsibilities: Duties include, but not limited to; care of 60,000-70,000 acres, care of 400-500 cows, will help with care of grass yearlings during the fall and wheat cattle during the winter, calving out heifers, will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of company vehicles, equipment and housing, fence maintenance and repair, riding company horses, halter breaking colts, starting two years olds colts with other cowboys. Qualifications: Experience in all the above is required. This is not a beginner’s position; need to be able to hit the ground running. This is a cowboy outfit and we expect you to act like real cowboys, no disrespect to anyone but we do not need dudes nor anyone that needs to go to town every day. We raise good horses, but every once in a while we might get one that’s a little snorty, but you need to be able to act like a cowboy and step around him and get a job done. You must be able to rope, we take care of lots of cattle outside, and we don’t need a person that has to run a calf down before they can catch them. This can be a very physical demanding job from the cow works to building fence and everything in between. This ranch has a long history of being a traditional cowboy outfit; we need traditional, but progressive cowboys that are willing to be team players, work unsupervised, be self-starters, work lots of hours, long days, and make lots of horse tracks. However, if you can’t get off a your horse when there’s work to be done, we don’t need you. You need to be able to stay in a trot whether we’re working cows or building fence, again if you can’t hustle and keep up, we don’t need you.
