We currently run 400 mother cows, calve out our own 100 head of replacement heifers as well as develop 100 head of yearling bulls and heifers right here on the operation. Finding someone who is passionate about cattle health is a great bonus as we value like minded people, passionate for the industry. Our cattle are wintered in coulees, so someone with knowledge on how to bed cattle down out of the weather and can recognize when to increase and decrease feed would be a desirable skill. Looking for someone who is a self starter, comfortable working on their own and taking charge of their set responsibilities. We prize people who have a creative streak and like to improve things around the ranch. We live in a beautiful part of the world here in Montana, as we are situated up against the Highwood Mountains. We especially enjoy the summer months as we work to manage cattle in 14 pastures, using horses, dogs, and ATVs. We put up our own dryland hay, getting one cutting a year. Knowledge in putting up quality hay is preferred. Work includes, but is not limited to, fencing, haying, cattle health management, nutrition, grazing rotation, waterlines, improving facilities, mechanics, welding, calving, feeding, plumbing, and more. Someone who has experience in these required ranching activities is preferred. Our ranch needs a team member who can add to the operation. Applicants must be able to calve heifers with little assistance, have knowledge in moving and working cattle, know when to ask for help and have spent at least one winter in a northern state working in the cattle industry. The perfect applicant would be able to work cattle on foot, horse, and ATV being ok with whatever is best for the current situation. Pay is on the 1st and 15th of every month, including a 2-3 bedroom house, utilities, an opportunity to own your own cattle, and ½ butchered beef every six months.
