He is a ranchy looking grey gelding, 15.1hh and close to 1250 pounds, with a ton of bone and a good size foot. Freckles rides quietly on a loose rein but has a big motor and plenty of speed when you ask him for it, so he is not suitable for children or beginners. He likes having a job and has no quit in him. Freckles has been on a ranch in West Texas for most of his life, where he was used for all phases of ranch work including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. Freckles is stout, tough, and could pull a house down if you asked him to. He is currently being ridden by a 68 year old man on the ranch. He is cowy, strong to the horn and good on the end of a rope, never getting excited or upset when working cattle. Freckles is well broke, with a good one handed neck rein, a good stop, and he will sidepass, work off your leg and open and shut gates. He is an excellent ranch horse but has the mind and disposition to make a nice safe trail horse as well. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Freckles can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it.
