Summary This role assists in the care and treatment of cattle through the daily riding of feedlot pens, and associated tasks. Key Responsibilities -Monitors cattle by riding the feedlot pens on horseback in order to identify sick, injured, or stressed animals; removes the sick or injured cattle from pens in order to be medically treated -Assists with the receiving, shipping, sorting, and processing of cattle. -Daily care of horses to include feeding, water, monitoring health and condition, and maintaining proper shoes -Moves cattle from pen to pen as instructed in order to rotate cattle according to production schedules -Assists in the medical treatment of sick or injured cattle by following an established medical-treatment plan Relevant Experience 1 - 2 years related experience and/or training Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position Other Information -Ability to saddle and ride a horse. -Must provide own tack. -While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. -The employee frequently is required to walk and use hands/fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools, or controls. -The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. -The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and seldom lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. -Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception. -While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to dust, fumes or airborne particles. -The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. -The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
