If you are looking for a nice, quiet, well broke horse that won’t break the bank or get you hurt, then check out Amber. She is a well built 13 year old sorrel mare, 14.3 hh, stout and big boned with the look of an old time foundation bred quarter horse. She sells as GRADE and we do not know how she is bred. Amber is gentle and nicely broke, with a good handle and an excellent stop. She has been used on the ranch for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. She is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Amber has a nice, smooth jog and rocking horse lope, will sidepass, and work a gate. She rides quietly on a loose rein, is content to walk quietly all day long, but will easily step into a trot or lope when asked. Older kids have ridden her on the ranch and she does very well with them. Amber is very brave and sure footed, and will go up, over or through anything you point her at without hesitation. She would be an excellent horse to take in the mountains and ride on multi day camping trips. Amber can be ridden by herself or with other horses, will happily lead or follow, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. She has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and is not bothered by it. Amber isn’t mare-ish and stays turned out with both mares and geldings with no problem, although she can be hard to catch out in a big pasture.
