Description:
HIRED HAND: you will help maintain a large, primitive riverfront campground with duties to include mowing, arborist work, heavy equipment operation, chainsaw operation, maintenance & repairs. You will help clear overgrown land, fell & process dead/unwanted trees, split firewood, brush hog pastures & maintain roads. A wide range of farm and ranch skills will be useful; welding, fabrication & construction experience is a plus. You must be physically fit because the job can be demanding at times.

We already have a farmer baling about 160 acres of Coastal Bermuda for us but no animals yet. We are developing the property with a focus on recreation so a petting farm or dude ranch might be a good fit at some point in the future. We’ve also started clearing out an old, abandoned/un-reclaimed sand & gravel pit with plans to convert it into a large lake benefitting our recreational and agricultural interests. Farm and ranch experience is appealing because of your multiple skill sets and good common sense for knowing what it takes to get the job done. This will definitely not be seasonal work; your opportunity for long term growth is excellent. The hourly wage is negotiable and will be based on your abilities which fit our current needs.

A 2ND POSITION IS ALSO BEING OFFERED. One couple preferred to fill both jobs but not required for the right fit.

PART-TIME CAMP HOST: you are friendly, honest & reliable in welcoming clients to our campground, checking them in and taking them to their reservation site along the river. Annual lease members are pretty self-sufficient so greeting them upon arrival is normally what takes place. Your hours of work will vary depending on reservations and weather but much of the time you will simply be on call/standby during weekends. You will have at least 4 days off each week and possibly as many as 7 days off if bad weather causes cancelations. Our typical season runs from March to November. During the winter months, you will mostly just ranch sit which basically means maintaining a day-to-day living presence like any typical resident might do. Winter is also a good time for taking trips/vacations. We have fast fiber optic internet and our cell service is decent. Working a remote job from home during the week might be an option worth considering. However, you must be financially stable because our part-time camp host does not receive a wage. Instead, this job is a trade off for your living expenses to include free: 30/50 amp electric, excellent well water, trash, septic, internet & a large lot to live on.

IMPORTANT: There is no housing available so you will need to provide a suitable RV/camper trailer to live in.

THE BUSINESS: is located upstream from Lake Whitney and it’s a fun getaway for camping, boating, kayaking, fishing & water sports dating back to the 1970s. We are normally busy on weekends and slow through the week during camping season. Annual lease members come as often as they want but it’s usually on weekends because of their work. We are also open for non-member visitor camping from Thursday to Sunday, noon to noon, March to November. We are locked & gated 24/7/365 with no walk-in traffic; and no residents live here other than our staff. Visitors with confirmed reservations and our annual members have gate code access but no one else gets in. There is only one blacktop road leading to the property and it dead ends at our locked front gate. Most of our business is private membership, recreational camping…..both secluded and exclusive!

THE PROPERTY: consists of 350 acres located on the inside of a steep bend in the Brazos River with an amazing 1.5 miles of river frontage! Roughly 2/3rds of our property boundary is the Brazos River and it’s plenty deep for boating and swimming. The campground sits on about 100 acres of bottomland where there are lots of deer & turkey and no telling what else you might see. You are welcome to hunt free doe and hog for meat in the freezer and we encourage you to enjoy all that our property offers on your days off. We truly hope you will find Bee Mountain to be a great place to live and work!

Your drive is less than 20 miles to Walmart, Kroger, H.E.B., Albertsons, Lowes, Home Depot and many other stores/restaurants located in the town of Cleburne, Texas with a population of about 35,000. It’s only 60 miles to Fort Worth and 90 miles to Dallas where literally everything imaginable is at your fingertips…..not too far from all the things you need but far enough to leave the rat race behind!
