Description:
His name is Beau and he is a Mustang pony from Fox HMA in Nevada, I was told. I am sick with end stage Lyme disease and need to sell him. We rescued him from a horse trader back in 2016. He had the worst case of hoof root, took a year to grow back a descent frog and heel. During that year, I worked in hand a lot. He was terrified of everything. I do a lot of liberty work in the round pen and also train on obstacles. He is very obedient on the ground. (See video) I am weak and can’t hang with him under saddle. If you rattled him or if something scares him, he might scoot forward or can buck. A few years ago, I had 9 good rides on him in round pen, changed saddles and he wasn’t happy. Bucked and I came off. He warned me three times that he wasn’t happy with saddle, I didn’t hear him. Could of been avoided, my fault. I didn’t get back on. Instead went back to ground work and taught him to drive. Taught him to pull a tire. Would pull tire all over the farm no problem. Did this for weeks to make sure he was rock solid. To hitch him I neeeded helpers. My neighbors came and helped me. Actually got him to pull cart with us in it. However, only if a human was with him at his head. IF we did it too long....he’d start to crow hop. So we were dealing with a threshold, I understood it, the older teamster did not. I was at his mercy if I wanted his help. Decided to give up on driving too, due to no helpers who shared my training views. I just don’t have enough strength or help. I am sick, alone with a handicapped husband. I can’t go any farther with him. Hes been sitting for two years. Feel it’s best for me to pass him on to someone who is not sick and who has more people to help them finish this process. I’ve been training ponies for 40 years, so he has had consistent professional handling. Never beat on. Never been sick or lame, however he is heavier this year coming out of winter. He does have some anxiety. He can be calm if you are good to him. He’s just scared, he’s not mean. IF you need to use whips chains and spurs....you won’t get far with him. Love goes a long ways with him. I am not sure how old he is, mid teens. BLM told me he was 7 when I rescued him. See photo of his brand, maybe you can read it, I can’t. I did have Wyleen Davis here, she said you just need to put miles on him, you’ve done a good job. I feel he needs a younger stronger person who has made a career out of working with Mustangs. Tried to be very transparent and truthful. If you have questions call me.
