Description:
Stoney Creek Ranch offers a three month internship under Bill Barnes. Our goal is to help individuals make some real headway towards becoming a horseman. Set in the rural hills of central Georgia, the ranch is a perfect haven for the aspiring hand.



The goal of this internship is to teach classical horsemanship in a real life environment. By placing the individual in situations that cause meaningful questions, one can begin to grow. Working under Bill Barnes you’ll experience different aspects of horsemanship, from colt starting to more refined work and a lot of time focused on the fundamentals. You’ll learn how to rope, and have the opportunity to hone your skills. You will be exposed to working cattle, learning what to look for and how to doctor livestock.



In addition to helping with chores morning and evening, there are ranch duties you will be expected to perform while you are here. Tasks will range greatly, from fencing to mowing the yard, cleaning the tack room, learning to drive and use equipment, clearing brush and all aspects that go into running a horse/cattle ranch.



You are highly encouraged to bring along a horse of your own, this gives you the chance for your own horse to advance while you are doing the same.



This opportunity is not available to many, therefore we want to make sure each person has a quality and personable experience here. Rude or disrespectful behaviour towards us or any fellow interns could result in your dismissal from our program. No pets are allowed during your internship. Cigarette smoking is not permitted. No overnight guests are permitted on the premises.



The cost of this internship is $750 per month. Cost of board is $100 per horse per month, maximum of two per intern. In the case an intern does not own a horse the ranch will provide one at the cost of $100 per month. Housing and utilities are provided. You will provide your own food with the exception of eating with the family several times a month. Jot down any questions that come to mind as we will be happy to answer them in your interview.
