He has been a slave his entire life and has had to work for every meal he got to eat, and he is now looking for a nice retirement home where he will be loved and taken care of.Casey gentle for anyone and stays that way even if not ridden regularly, and he will not take advantage of his rider. Casey is gentle but still has plenty of go so not for a total beginner or small child. Casey is a 15 year old sorrel gelding gelding, 14.3 hh and stout enough to carry a big man. He is laid back and rides quietly on a loose rein, but will get up and go if you ask him to. In his prime he was one heck of a nice ranch horse, and has been used for all phases of ranch work including roping and gathering cattle in the pasture, sorting pairs, and tagging and doctoring calves. Casey has a good handle, smooth gaits, and will open and shut gates. He would be the perfect horse for a young cowboy who wanted to help his dad or granddad around the ranch, a weekend rancher who wanted a horse to check fence and push cattle, or just a safe horse to have around the ranch for when people who don’t know how to ride come to visit. Casey has never offered to buck or rear, and is the type of horse you can let sit for weeks or months and then just hop on without having to worry about getting bucked off. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He has good ground manners, is easy to load, haul and shoe, and stands quietly tied. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, will easily lead or follow, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. Casey has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. NOT 100% SOUND! Will not pass a vet check but still plenty good for trail riding or weekend ranch work. $1650.
