He’s truly one in a million! Buckshot is a shapey, extremely good minded gelding with a ton of bone, a good sized foot, and a big hip and chest. He is 15.1 hh and very athletic, and has been ridden more miles in his short life than most 12 year olds. We were told he traces back to Colonel Freckles and Peppy San Badger, but he sells as GRADE and there is no way to get papers on him. Buckshot has an excellent foundation and absolutely no buck in him, even if not ridden regularly. While I would not call him a kid horse right now due to his age, he will make an amazing kid horse with his quiet disposition. Buckshot has been used on the ranch for all phases of ranch work, including roping, gathering, and doctoring cattle in the pasture, sorting pairs and dragging calves to the fire. He has also been ridden in the feedyard and has been flagged off of at some local ropings. He is one heck of a ranch horse but he would be just as happy being a pleasure horse or even a Ranch Versatility Show Horse. Buckshot is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He has a good one handed neck rein, a light mouth, and has been taught to travel out in the pasture and cover some ground. He rides quietly on a loose rein, content to walk all day long if that is what you prefer, but is responsive and will easily step into a trot or lope when asked. Buckshot can be ridden by himself or with other horses, will happily lead or follow and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. He is extremely gentle on the ground, has good ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe. $6500.
