He is beautifully built, with a big hip, tons of bone, a good sized foot and a baby doll head. Hickok is extremely well bred, out of old foundation, working lines, and AQHA registered as “Catch a Roan King”. He has a high percentage of Blue Valentine and Joe Hancock, and is as tough as the day is long. Check out his complete pedigree at: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/catch+a+roan+king He is 15.3 hh and close to 1200 pounds, and although he is short coupled he has the smoothest jog and the best rocking horse lope you could ever ask for in a big horse. Hickok is extremely gentle and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, and he has been taught to travel out and cover some ground out in the pasture. He has mainly been used as a big circle horse, to push cattle and check fence. He has been roped off of in the past but doesn’t seem to really enjoy that. Hickok is a nice horse to check fence on because of how he moves out, and would also make an excellent pleasure horse as nothing spooks him or scares him out on the trails. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and will go up, over or through anything you point him at. Hickock rides quietly on a loose rein, is very responsive to your cues, and has plenty of speed if you ask him for it. He can be ridden by himself or with other horses, will happily lead or follow and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. Hickok has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it.. He is gentle on the ground, has good ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe. If ridden hard he will come up a tad sore but he doesn’t let it stop him. He enjoys being ridden and will always give 110%. $3500.
