Description:
Oakley is a shapey bay roan gelding with a big hip and that great cowboy color. He is pretty flashy, with his 4 little white socks, thick mane and tail, and pretty head. Oakley is 15hh and 8 years old, and is gentle with no buck. He has a nice handle with a one handed neck rein, and smooth gates that are easy to sit to. Oakley is laid back but responsive, and will go all day long if you need him to. He is perfectly content walking quietly and will never go any faster than you want him to, but will easily step into a trot or lope when asked. Oakley has been mainly pasture ridden, and has pushed cattle but never sorted or been roped off of. But he is responsive enough to your leg and has a nice enough handle that he could easily make a team sorting horse or ranch versatility horse. He is the perfect age to take in any direction you choose. He is excellent out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He will go up, over or through anything you point him at. Oakley has been hauled all over Texas to various ranches and state parks and rides just as quietly away from home as he does at home. He can be ridden by himself or in a large group of horses with no problem. He will leave the group willingly and will happily lead or follow. We have ridden him down the road and in traffic and nothing bothers him. Oakley has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe. $4000.
