These buckles are marked in individual block letters and numbered 26. Kevin is from Stinnett, Texas and has been building spurs since 1983. Kevin won the 2008 Adolph Bayers Award and is listed in Bits & Spurs Motifs, Techniques and Modern Makers by Ned & Jody Martin. Kevin is self-taught and credits Jerry Cates for refining his talent. Kevin spent time with Mr. Cates in his shop learning the trade of bit and spur making and started making custom cowboy gear on a full time basis in the 1980’s. The buckles are steel mounted with engraved nickel silver. There may have been a brand or initials in the center of the buckles at one time that someone removed. The spur straps do not look like they have been used but have some dark spots on them as shown in the pictures. They are marked SSS and made out of skirting leather with covered inside buttons. The buckles are attached to the straps with brads and heavy waxed nylon thread.
