If you are looking for a good using horse or trail horse that stays gentle whether you ride him once a day or once a year, then take a look at Romeo. We don’t get horses like him very often, this gentle, this broke, and this handy. When we bought Romeo he had been turned out for over a year, and we hopped on him bareback with a halter and rode him right off. We have never had to warm him up to ride him, even on those cold and windy mornings. And Romeo is broke, broke, broke! He rides just as good with only a rope around his neck as he does with a bridle. He was bred on a big ranch in South Dakota and then spent the majority of his life with a big cattle company in Nebraska. He has drug a ton of calves to the fire and doctored a ton of cattle out in the pasture. Romeo is strong to the horn and all business when he is working cattle. He would be an excellent horse for a weekend rancher that wanted a horse he could use but also put the kids and grandkids on and not worry about them getting bucked off. He is a good horse for someone to learn to rope on, as he is cowy and will track a steer, but is also forgiving of his rider’s mistakes. Romeo is 16 years old and AQHA registered as “JBW Levi Cat” # 3978440. He is extremely well bred, with Doc Bar right on his papers. He rides quietly on a loose rein, and knows how to travel out in the pasture. He has an excellent handle and stop, an easy one handed neck rein , and will sidepass, work off your leg, and open and shut gates almost on his own. Romeo is gentle for experienced kids and beginner adult riders. With his handle he would even make a great playday horse for the kiddos to have fun on. He will never go any faster than you ask him to and he is content to walk quietly all day long if you prefer. Romeo can be ridden by himself or in a large group of horses with no problem. He will leave the group willingly and will happily lead or follow. We have ridden him down the road and in traffic and nothing bothers him. Romeo does have a bump just below his left knee from an old mesquite thorn, but we have had it checked out by a vet and it is below the joint and purely cosmetic. It does not affect his movement and he is completely sound on that leg. Romeo has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe. $4000.
