They were made by well-known and collectible bit and spur maker Randy Butters from Homer, Michigan. Randy is listed in Bits & Spurs Motifs, Techniques and Modern Makers by Ned and Jody Martin. Randy’s work is exhibited in the Cowboy Hall of Fame and museums across the United States. He was the Academy of Western Artists’ 2005 National Spur Maker of the Year award. He was the 2016 10th Annual Adolph Bayers Spur Maker of the Year Award recipient. The spurs are marked with his maker mark and numbered 1107. These spurs were built for the 2011 Women’s Protective Services Auction and have the WPS logo and date on the outside buttons. The spurs are steel with a brown finish with engraving in the steel around the mountings and between the mountings. This would be a nice pair of spurs to wear or to add to a collection.
