Description:
My name is Vance Goodson, I am a 25 year old christian man and am married with two little girls. I am college educated with a degree, I studied agricultural business and wildlife management. I am currently employed in the oilfield and enjoy my job, but I am ready to get back to my roots and have recently decided with my wife’s support that I want to chase my dreams of being a long term ranch manager.

I grew up in the ranch life riding horses, working cows, maintaining properties, etc. I have been on and around Quarter Horses since birth and have developed extensive knowledge and skill breaking and training ranch/roping horses. I have been actively breaking and training horses since the age of 13. I am well versed in all aspect of the breaking and training process from imprinting on yearlings all the way through to a finished horse. I have a deep love for horses and take pride in my abilities.

I am experienced as a working cowboy as well. I am well versed in roping, doctoring calves, sorting yearlings, rotating pastures, hunting for cattle, etc.

I am also an avid outdoorsman and currently manage my own property as well as assist a buddy of mine manage whitetail and other wildlife on several of his properties. This includes; placing/filling/maintaining feeders, implementing and maintenance of food plots, hunting blinds, running game cameras to keep records of game, implementing management plans in order to maintain a healthy, balanced whitetail herd, habitat enhancement, etc.

I have experience in cattle management as well. Aside from growing up with cattle I also worked as a manager for a Fleckvieh Simmental operation. I was in charge of feeding, doctoring, pasture rotation, calving, and daily record keeping of approximately 100 head. I was also in charge of heat watch and getting the cows set up for AI and embryo transplant. I assisted in these processes but do not have hands on experience of actually performing the AI or embryo transplants.

I am also skilled as a mechanic, equipment operator (tractors, dozer, excavator, mowers, hay equipment, etc.), welder, general handyman (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.), landscaping (mowing, weed eating, hedges, flowerbeds), gardening, fence builder. Essentially any task that may arise on a ranch I can handle. I am a jack of all trades and I take pride in my work no matter what the task at hand may be. Just because it may not be my specialty does not mean that my work will be sub-par. I do not believe in cutting corners or the easy way out. If I’m going to do it, it will be done correctly and professionally.

Although I do not have management experience under my belt, I feel as though my work experience in the oilfield, my ranching/outdoors background and my uncanny drive to succeed in all aspects of life make me a more than suitable candidate for a management position. There is nothing that I cannot do, I have a can do/will do attitude about everything in life and if there is not a way I will find one or make one. I enjoy challenges and problem solving. I am a very fast learner as well as a good teacher. I am very motivated and outgoing and am not afraid to work. I am a hands on person and 9 times out of 10 would rather do it myself than to trust someone else to do it. I have strong leadership skills but am also willing to fall in and follow as well. I am very easy to get along with and have great people/communication skills.

I am looking for a long term position that I can move my family into and settle down. My wife is also fully capable of working and does not mind pitching in wherever and whenever necessary. We are located in South/Central Texas and are looking for something in Texas to relocate too.

If you believe that I would fit your requirements, please feel free to call me at 936-870-6383 or email at vance.goodson@gmail.com. I have a resume and references that I can send for you to review. I am excited to start this new chapter in mine and my family’s life.

Thanks for reading and god bless!
