My family has raised livestock in Eastern Oregon for six generations, and I have two daughters who continue to do so. I have been married for 35 years. Through my experiences, I have learned to look at the big picture and pursue long-term goals while handling all situations with utmost efficiency on a day to day basis. EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES General: Skilled in operation and maintenance of ranch equipment and facilities Knowledgeable and result oriented Evaluate, hire, direct and supervise employees Handle emergency situations calmly Operate all farm, ranch and some construction equipment Computer record keeping, accounting and budgeting Operating and maintaining vehicles and hay equipment Repair and upkeep of ranch property Provide for the security and integrity of the operation Ability to make onsite decisions Establish and work within a budget Acquire government contracts and grants: EQUIP,CSP, CREP, WHIP Coordinate livestock and wildlife management plans Coordinate watershed recovery plans and invasive species control districts Budget and implement invasive species control districts Budget for and implement noxious weed control programs Class A CDL with 22 years of livestock hauling experience Livestock: Ability to work with cattle and horses in any weather Handle cattle in a humane and low stress manner Extensive knowledge of livestock industry and animal production systems Identify and doctor sick cattle on range or in confinement Design and install fencing and cattle handling facilities Experience with back grounding, preconditioning and marketing Grazing management including facilitating management and ecosystem plans with the BLM and Forest Service Experience with BLM and Forest Service practices and guidelines Calving heifers and cows confined or outside Doctoring alone on large range operations Basic surgical procedures Colt starting through low-stress natural horsemanship Implement pasture rotation and restoration plans for drought situations and fire recovery Manage riparian zones on allotments and private ground Design and construct corrals and fences within a budget Implement fencing and water distribution for efficient use of forage Experience in remote cow camp situations Evaluation and selection of quality replacement and breeding stock that fit specific environments Implement herd improvement strategies with selective culling and health programs Demonstrate and implement low stress branding, sorting, shipping and moving cattle Experienced roper Hay and Irrigation: All types of irrigation design and installation Extensive knowledge of flood irrigation especially in rough terrain Coordinate with local water master and neighbors over water rights and issues Work with state water resources and consultants applying for surface and ground water rights Operate large scale haying operations including shipping and marketing Evaluate select and purchase haying equipment For further information call me at 541-676-5709 Thank you!!
