Traditional Pulled Wool Saddle Pads are constructed much the same today as they were made over a century ago. Recently, I found one made in 1920 in a tack room in northern California in mint condition. These pads are handmade from domestic Merino Wool. Made to last decades! Here are just a few benefits of this pad: 1) Antimicrobial & Antibacterial to curb the spread of epidermal viruses. 2) The natural "wicking" properties of wool constantly pulls from the wet source to the dry source; utmost needed circulation and preservation of the back of the horse. 3) You’ve seen this ad a number of times and you know you want one! 4) Longevity: It is durable, resilient, offers comfort and safety; qualities not found in synthetic fibers. 5) Wool naturally deters dirt and debris; easy to clean if needed. 6) Wool is a natural insulator: Cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. 7) The loop construction of these pads offer airflow unlike solid felted wool pads. It is interesting to note so many well-intended folks spend uber-amounts of money on the best tack/equipment and give little care to the contact between saddle and back. No back - no horse. These pads are functional...no! Rather: paramount equipment for the working horsemen or horsewoman. Not intended to be a "show" blanket, or glitzy-glamour-attention-grabber worthless rinky-dink composition of material. Please don’t ask if wear leathers would improve the design (or crystals, fringe, or dying the wool). The answer is always: "No." Custom brands are the only construction additions to be made. Please allow $50 additional for each brand. Spring and calving season is fast approaching. Miles covered and long hours spent in the saddle, doctoring, checking calves, diverse weather.
