We would like to relocate to a ranch where we can combine our life and career experience with our passion for horses and ranching. We have a small family, with a 2 yr old son. I have experience as an equipment operator and as a mechanic. Born and raised in a family logging business has given me experience operating and repairing a wide range of equipment. I have learned to work as a team member in all positions of the business as employee up through to the current owner. With my equipment background I have also worked for several farms harvesting hay. Owning a horse farm has given me knowledge of animal care, nutrition, and maintenance. I thoroughly enjoy working outside with equipment and animals. I also find it rewarding to work in the shop maintaining/ repairing the equipment that I take pride in operating. My wife, April has a 15 year career with Cornell University as an Extension Educator. She is also a horse show judge, instructor and horse trainer. Born and raised on a large Dairy Farm has given her a broad experience base in animal care, calving, equipment operation, people relations and management. The majority of her equipment experience is with feeding and harvesting machinery. Horses were used on the farm for herd management aspects. We would like to become an asset to a ranch operation where we could make our home and both strive to continue learning and utilize our current knowledge and skills. Ideally we would invest in the operation or an adjoining property in cattle or land. I am seeking a full time position as a ranch hand and/or mechanic that includes an honest wage, housing, health insurance (or stipend). We are a non-smoking and non-drinking couple. April will mainly be a stay at home mom but is willing to use her knowledge and experience any way that would benefit the ranch. We have 4 farm raised quarter horses that we use for sorting, roping, and penning that we would like to bring with us. We have experience with construction from sawmill operation to finished buildings. We have built barns, run in sheds, garages and also renovated existing structures. For housing construction we have experience with renovations that include heating, plumbing, electric, roofing (steel & shingle), repairing lath and plaster and installing new kitchen and bathrooms. We currently own a horse farm and have experience with installing and maintaining the barns and fencing. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
