Description:
Hello, My name is Valerie Marsh and my daughter is Nadia Marsh, we’re looking for a ranch job. We currently live in Stevensville, Montana and are willing to relocate. Since 2006 I’ve been the head wrangler at Paws Up Ranch & Resort and this last season at Yellowstone Mountain Guides. My duties through the years of being a head wrangler have included managing a crew of wranglers, managing the horse herds, doctoring horses, pasture management, feeding with tractors, herding the horses both from horseback and ATV, driving draft teams, fitting and assigning saddles to horses, scheduling rides, matching the right horses to guests, working with problem horses, clearing trail, making new trails, guiding trail rides, leading pack strings, packing, driving trucks (manual & automatic) and trailers, and such. I’m accustomed to doing whatever needs to be done on a ranch whether it be starting colts, moving cattle from pasture to pasture, riding & roping, working with problem horses, breeding and foaling horses, cleaning stalls, building & repairing fences, and such. I also have some experience assisting in calving. I’m very open to learning new methods of how to do things. My daughter and I arent’t afraid of hard work and working in bad weather.

Nadia has been wrangling for 4 years. This past season she also worked for Yellowstone Mountain Guides where she led rides, led pack strings, assisted the outfitters in packing the mules, worked with problem horses, wrangling in the herd horseback, checking water, riding health, and such. Nadia is very talented working with problem horses, which is usually her main job, she’s very quiet with them and has been complemented on how well she does with them and how well they progress.

She has spent a lot of time with her brother-in-law who cowboys and this past summer she spent a lot of time with him and her sister in a cowcamp in the Tobacco Root Mountains. She helped them gather and move cows from pasture to pasture, roping, doctor cattle and horses, corral work both on horseback and on foot, loading cattle into trailers, working at the chute filling syringe guns, bringing cattle up to the chute, and such. During the winter/spring she has spent a lot of time helping them with calving, going out and checking the mother cows by herself, picking up and bringing in new born calves and their mothers, bottle feeding, and such. She’s been learning about how to pull calves when needed and has observed and assisted in that process.

Some of my other experiences include: Being a ranch hand for Todd Banner Cutting Horses, where my duties included preparing horses for trainer, exercising and turn-back, pushing cattle on horseback, and barn maintenance. During this time I also started and finished my cutting horse mare. In 1999 I won the Bitterroot Ranch Cutting Competition Series Champion on her. Which was a summer long cutting series. Before that I was an independent trainer and instructor in Stevensville, Montana. I worked with horses of various abilities and levels, starting colts and finishing experienced horses. Also instructing children and adults in western riding. I was also the co-manager of Heller Ranch in Castro Valley, California where I co-managed a private thoroughbred race horse operation. Which included general care and nutrition of all horses, halter breaking, vaccination, sales prep, and trailering. I’ve also been the Foaling Barn Manager and Assistant to The Trainer at Cardif Stud Farm in Buellton, California. Where I was responsible for overall care of ranch’s mares and foals including foaling, halter breaking, detecting illnesses, administering medications, and assisting veterinarian. As assistant to trainer duties included starting young horses, ground driving, grooming, saddling, ponying, exercise riding, and sales prep. Over the years I have been blessed to learn from some very wonderful vets both in California and Montana and have gained a lot of horse doctoring knowledge.

My email is valmarsh13@hotmail.com or call (406)239-4912. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
