Not only is he so adorable to look, he has an awesome personality. He is so sweet and super gentle. He loves people and is in-your pocket but has great manners and is very respectful even around the tiny kiddos. Pickles is more whoa than go and is happy to babysit all the little beginner riders. He will also walk, trot, and lope around great. He is very kind and forgiving for them to learn. He never gets worked up even when kiddos are having a tantrum under or on him. I can totally admit my son on many trail rides got hot or tired and was kicking or throwing a fit but Pickles always took perfect care of him. He is the perfect size at 13.3 hands tall and super stocky made. This makes him small enough for the little riders to feel comfortable on him but big enough for an adult to enjoy him too. We trust Pickles completely to keep ours kiddos safe. He has been a confidence builder for our 4 year old son for the last year and a half. Pickles rides in a group great or he will happily ride out alone. He is also awesome to pony off other horses if your little ones don’t know how to steer a horse yet. He is solid and steady everywhere we take him. He is very sure footed, watches the trail and knows where his feet are. He goes where he’s pointed without hesitation, You can ride him every day or once a month and he’s the same pony every time. He is super easy to catch. He stands perfectly for the farrier and is good for the vet. He is great for bathes and clippers too. We have ridden him in town. He is traffic safe as we live on a very busy hwy so he is used to school buses, semis and all sorts of traffic going by 60mph…nothing bothers him. He is good with other horses, and ponies, cows, our silly corgis and border collies always running around. He doesn’t even mind our Zebu bull. He will load in and back out of the trailer, and hauls well. He loves treats and will eat as many carrots or apple wafflers as you will give him. He is happy in a box stall, in paddock or out in big pasture. He has no issues with being out on grass and no special diet or maintenance at all. He has no vices or bad habits. He is up to date on worming, vaccinations and farrier which were all done in January 2023. He is currently on grass/alfalfa mix hay. Just a few things we used Pickles for in 2022 - We used him for our church’s VBA in summer 2022, where he taught 10 kids about horse safety and riding which he did awesome! He also got to be patriotic on the 4th of July with riding in the parade. In October 2022, he got to be a dairy cow with our son, Cooper as his farmer for a day during the costume class for our rodeo bible camp fundraiser. And he had tons of miles trail riding at state parks while we went camping, and also rode many hours with our other kids in arena just having fun goofing off.
