Farm Hand

Wages: negotiable based on experience. A work pickup will be provided and a half of a beef.

Preferences: Over 25 years old. Prefer non-smoking/tobacco using. No drugs.

Job Duties: Experience with haying, farming/planting, spraying, harvesting. Light mechanic and maintenance required. Some cattle experience necessary. A CDL is needed.

Job Overview:

We are a wheat, corn, hay, and cattle operation based in Whitney, Nebraska. We are located about 20 miles from Chadron, Nebraska. We are a no till farming operation and majority of our irrigation is via pivots. Our farming tractors and windrower are GPS/guidance equipped, the other tractors are being upgraded as we go. Duties based on the season:

• Spring: planting trees for our conservation contracts and planting the corn crop. Some spraying.

• Summer: spraying, irrigation, haying, wheat harvest and maintenance.

• Fall: corn harvest, planting winter wheat/grasses, winterizing pivots/pumps and sprayer.

• Winter: would include being the primary cattle/feedlot feeder. We have a small feedlot and also run cow/calf pairs. We feed a silage mix using a feed wagon with a scale and a feed ration to optimize gain based on the feed ingredients available.

• Cattle: help move cattle periodically (using a 4-wheeler or horse), help precondition/work cattle through the chutes if needed. This would be a small part of the job that will inevitably come up.

• Misc: repairing equipment as needed, regular maintenance, helping install water tanks, build/repair fence.
