This pretty girl is the ultimate draft cross driving mare that rides great too. She is a perfect size at 15.3 and 1400 pounds and wears a #3 shoe. Not too big but definitely big enough to carry a larger rider. Zena is kind, tolerant and patient, she doesn’t mind the kids running around her, chickens flying around, dogs running under her or rubbing on her, or the sheep, goats or donkeys under foot. She doesn’t mind loud sudden sounds or movements. She is good around ATV’s, bikes, machinery, tractors, fork lifts, dozers, etc. You can shoot a gun off her. Or carry a flag on her.

She is the most bomb proof driving horse you’ll ever run across. She stands like a statue to be harnessed and hooked up. She was a commercial driving horse in New Orleans and carried thousands of tourists down the streets for sight seeing. She has been in numerous Mardi Gras parades. She’s been used for weddings and events by both her previous owners and us. We’ve driven her in the Fort Worth stockyards and absolutely nothing bothers her. We’ve used her to give lessons for people to learn how to drive a horse and carriage. She’s also been used to pull a feed wagon on the ranch. There is nothing silly or anxious about her and if you stop her to park she will stand until you give her the command to go. She is extremely well trained and listens to voice commands. We drive her at least once a week to the convenience store and the donut shop. She drives right down the side of the highway and not even bothered by semis. She has been used in a therapeutic riding program riding and driving.

Zena is also broke to ride and actually rides well. She will walk, trot, lope as asked. She’s never really had much arena time but has been ridden all over outside. We’ve even had beginners on her. She’s been ridden on the ranch to help gather and pen cows. Take off and ride pastures looking for strays on her. You can push cows up the alley and load trucks on her. You can ride her for hours checking fences on her.

She’s also been trail ridden a lot. She doesn’t care what kind of terrain you ride through. Crossing water isn’t a problem on her. She’ll go up and down the hills steadily. She will cross any bridge you come across. She will ride in parades.

Zena stands for the shoer. We do keep her shod with borium for driving on the streets. She will stand tied for hours. She is very patient while being bathed and groomed. She stands to be clipped. She loads and unloads like a lady.

She is worth her weight in gold if you’re looking for an outstanding driving horse that is BOMB PROOF and that you can ride also. She is ready for you to take home today to hook to your carriage and take you for a drive then throw your saddle on her and go for a trail ride.
