Description:
Louie is a 5yr old, 15.2hh, grade, buckskin gelding. If you’re looking for a dirty broke, gentle, and in your pocket gelding you can stop your search. This is the type of gelding you can put grandma on to go on a family trail ride, but Dad can go out on him and do any job that needs to be done. Louie has the handle that everyone is searching for but few horses truly have. He is legitimately one handed broke, will work off seat and leg pressure, you can keep contact with him, or you can have as much rein swinging from his neck as you’d like. He picks up both leads easily, will draw a set of 11s every time you ask for a stop, side passes, and has a nice turn around. This handle comes from having a job outside from the plains of Texas to the mountains of Wyoming and being used in the feedlot from sun up to sun down doctoring, shipping, and sorting. This gelding will gladly drag any cow behind him up into a trailer no matter their size. Louie is all there 100% of the time when a job needs done and stays gentle no matter what you come across. Even if you aren’t needing a ranch horse, this is the kind of horse that will happily pack you around with a level head down any trail you want to go down. Louie easily goes out for a ride alone or will ride in a group and enjoys the easy, slow pace just as much as if not more than if he were asked for speed. He is traffic safe, will tackle any obstacle you come across, and is not the spooky kind. He has packed a wide range of riders and rides the same with all. Whether you’re just getting back to riding or riding is your full time job, his handle will fit you. Louie is a big puppy dog on the ground and will meet you at the gate every time. He stands quietly for everything, is easy to bridle, loads/unloads easily, and loves just hanging out with his person. He stands for mounting/dismounting, and if you need to use a mounting block he will stand quietly at one without walking off until you are ready to go. Louie will have matching scars on the front side of both his hocks from a rope. This happened years ago out in the pasture while trying to doctor a less than friendly momma cow and have not ever effected his soundness in anyway but will be there. He is good for the farrier, has hard/black feet, and has never come up sore no matter the terrain or length of the day he has put in. Louie requires no special care, is UTD on everything from dental to worming, and stays broke even with time off.
