Dolly is a 8 year old 14.3 hh bay roan quarter horse mare. This mare has a super good head on her, nothing fazes her, and she has a ton of try to her, she wants to learn. She is the first one to meet you at the gate and loves affection. She is easy to catch, stands tied, loads and trailers well, and stands great for a farrier. She is good both bareback and under saddle. From what I was told she was broke as a 2 year old but then had nothing done with her. I have been working with her for a few months now and am very impressed with her all around. In the arena she has a lot of go in her, but it’s very controllable. She necks reins and is starting to move well off of leg pressure. Her flying lead changes are getting to be very good, and she’s really starting to drop her butt into her stops. The side passes that you see in the video, we just started working on a week ago. She’s also starting to pick up her shoulders to develop some nice square turns and haunch turns. I have trotted and loped the barrel pattern on her, and she’s picking it up quick. While I am not a roper, I have thrown a rope off of her and dragged logs and objects on her as well. She has been in Colorado for a couple months and has been on the trail. On the trails she is really calm alone or in a group. She’s good crossing both still and running water, and she will go almost anywhere you point her. She has also been ridden in the cattleman’s day parade in Gunnison, Colorado, in which she didn’t even bat an eye. I have also taken this mare swimming in a pond. With the amount of speed, athleticism, and the good mind this mare has I genuinely believe she could excel at almost anything whether that be roper, parade horse, drill team, barrels, trail, etc. Parting with this mare is not easy, but being in college and not having the time to work with her once school starts again won’t do her justice.
