Manages and oversees day to day feedlot activities as is pertains to both Cattle and Cattle Employees

This is a Full Time position with Medical Benefits and possible housing. H2A FRIENDLY

The most important requirements for this position are as follows:

1. Must be bilingual English and Spanish

2. Must have prior managerial experience (does not have to be from a feedlot though that is preferable.)

3. Ability to use both administrative and cattle management software

4. Must have the ability to effectively communicate and delegate tasks to a team of 6-10 people.

5. Must possess a basic knowledge of cattle processing, doctoring, and pen checking

Animal Health:

Pull and treat animals efficiently, effectively, and in a timely manner

Communicate with crew on proper drug use and aseptic protocols

Process, booster, and reimplant animals in a timely manner

Keep accurate, concise records, i.e. hospital inventory, antibiotics, cattle movements, post mortem reports, etc

Communicate with front office

Mass Medicate problem pens when needed, relay information to supervisor and veterinarian

Keep cattle flowing through hospital pens

Keep hospital pens clean including watering tanks

Identify problem pens and relay to supervisor

Pull strays and return them to the correct home pens

Inform feed manager if any digestive disturbances

Work closely with veterinarian to reduce treatment costs, morbidity, and mortalities

Cattle Employee Management

Alert crew to any problem cattle

Help to educate crew in safety procedures

Crew scheduling and approval of payroll hours

Effectively communicate with crew and assist in ongoing education and training

Cattle Shipping and Receiving

Check withdrawal dates for cattle being shipped

Call and inform brand inspector on cattle being shipped or received cattle that need a new brand certificate

Notify crew prior to shipping what lots are being shipped in order verify headcounts

Communicate the importance of working together as a team to ensure animals are loaded in a stress free manner and minimize hot shot use and yelling

Maintain squeeze shoots and animal handling equipment

Ensure hospital records are accurate and up to date

Review month end reports for accuracy

Call veterinarian for horse boosters and horse shoeing appointments

Keep horse supplies stocked

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and use hands/fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must have own horse and tack and be able to saddle it. Must be wiling to weekends and holidays. Knowledge of computers is helpful. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


Knowledgeable in the areas of animal health and cattle conditions generally acquired with a minimum of two to five years related experience and/or training.
