LOCATION

Hodges Ranch is Located in-between Gage and Fargo, Oklahoma. The ranch consists of 11,300 contiguous acres.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Hodges Land and Cattle Company is seeking a motivated individual who shares a passion to promote the regeneration of native grassland. The Ranch Hand position will allow the individual an opportunity to grow their skills in regenerative grazing management, animal husbandry, and stockmanship. We are looking for an individual that values teamwork and shares our passion for livestock and responsible grassland management.



As a Ranch Hand, the job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:



• Work with management to develop and implement a managed grazing system.

• Work with management to monitor and report forage growth and grazing activity.

• Work with team to oversee livestock including handling and moving of the cattle as outlined in the developed grazing plan.

• Work with team to move and handle cattle using low stress techniques on foot, ATV, UTV and horseback.

• Work with ranch management to develop and execute plans to improve rangeland and wildlife habitat.

• Work with team to monitor wildlife and support ranch hunting programs.

• Develop and maintain fences, water pipeline, corrals, ranch buildings, and other ranch infrastructure.

• Regularly report of the cattle pasture rotation movements, supplemental feeding, livestock vaccinations and forage health to the management team.

• Install and maintain polywire temporary fencing.

• Use welder, cutting torch, and other shop equipment safely and responsibly.

• Operate heavy equipment in a safe manner to facilitate ranch operations including maintenance, development, and feeding.

• Assist with prescribed fires as necessary.

• Vaccinate livestock.

• Operate ATV, UTV and light equipment in a safe manner.

• Participate in safety trainings.

• Perform a variety of general ranch work duties and other duties as assigned by ranch management.

HOUSING

Housing is provided on the ranch. Basic utilities will be provided by the Ranch including water, electricity, propane and internet access.



EDUCATION

A bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Range Ecology, Ranch Management, or related field is highly preferred. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of two years related experience and/or training is required.



DRUG TESTING

The candidate will be subject to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol tests, (after offer is given but before applicant has commenced work). Random drug tests are given throughout the year.



WORK ENVIRONMENT

The location and topography of the Ranch will subject the employee to rough terrain and extreme temperatures. The position will require an individual to be able to be on horseback or ride and ATV/UTV for extended periods of time through rough terrain while enduring extreme cold and hot conditions. The position will also require an individual to lift/move objects up to 75 lbs. As such, safety is extremely important and open communication with team members throughout the day will be required.
