He is a flashy black and white paint gelding, 14.3hh and 18 years old, with plenty of life left in him! Patches is the type of horse you can let sit for a year and then just pull him out of the pasture and hop on without warming up, and know he is going to ride off with no issues. He has absolutely no buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, no matter how long he sits. Patches came off of a ranch in West Texas, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. He has packed tons of kids and beginners around the ranch, and is currently being ridden by a 70 year old man. He would be an excellent horse to have on the ranch for when guests came over, for a weekend rancher to check cattle on, or even for the grandkids to ride out with grandpa and learn to work cattle on. Patches is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He has a very good handle, is good on both leads, has a very smooth trot that you could sit to all day long, and will work a gate. He rides quietly on a loose rein and will only go as fast as you ask him to, but is responsive and has some gas left if you ask him for it. Patches can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $5500. Patches has good ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to load, haul and shoe. He recently had coggins, teeth, vaccinations, and shoes done, and is ready to go.
