Let’s talk about Curly Bill! Curly is a 13yo, 15.1hh, 1200lb sorrel gelding.

Are you looking for a big, stout gelding with a big motor that can go all day? Are you looking for more GO than WHOA? Are you looking for a sure footed athlete? Are you looking for a sensitive horse that will share a cold beer or shot of tequila after a days work? Are you an experienced, confident rider? Well, Curly might be the right guy for you!

I will start with the "bad": I think Curly had some rough handling as a youngster and that presents itself as trust issues on the ground. He has set back a time or two and we have worked a lot on smoothing that out. He is sometimes nervous when tacking up and a person needs to understand that and go easy on him. He isn’t a shithead, doesn’t buck, bite, or kick, he is just nervous and thinks you might be going to kill him sometimes. Under saddle this isn’t a problem. He can be a bit looky the first few times out after time off. He has never been a huge fan of tarps and bags, but we have smoothed that out as well. Curly has a lot of go, that is why I am asking for experienced riders only.

The "good": Curly is as stout and stoic as they come and has a huge motor that just won’t quit. He is tough as nails and a super easy keeper. Never stepped a lame step in his life, nor has he been banged up. He is scar/blemish free and built like a brick shithouse. Big bone and muscle for days and great conformation. We have had total beginners on his back and he treats them right, we have also given lessons on him. He loves dressage and arena work. He has a meet you at the gate personality (unless you have your chinks on and a halter in hand, then you might have to play his game a minute or two before he faces up). He has a huge and funny personality and acts more often like a big kid. He stands quietly for the farrier and loads up nicely. UTD on shots/teeth/worming, etc and just got his feet done a few days ago. Currently barefoot.

In summary: Curly is a big handsome guy with a few quirks (don’t they all?). He isn’t a dude horse, although we have had dudes on him. Curly would do great out on the ranch moving cows and riding fence. Prior to me owing him he was a ranch horse and had been roped off of, I have not done either of those things in the last 5 years. I have ridden Curly in the mountains and that is about it. The reason I am selling him is I have 2 others that I am putting miles on now and we are starting a youngster this spring. Curly has been moved to the back burner and I just don’t want to see him sitting around. Me and this big guy have been through a lot and I am going to be sad to see him go, but I have made up my mind and that is that. Located in Clancy.
