My name is Krysten Wilson and I am 27 years old. I currently live in Washington but am willing to relocate to anywhere for a ranch hand job. I am recently divorced but I was a Navy spouse for the past 5 years, which is why there is a huge gap in my resume. I currently do not have any prior commitments that would prevent me from being able to move. It’s literally just my dog and myself. I have some western horseback riding experience. I am looking for a position that provides housing and dogs allowed. I have a 3 year old German Shepherd who is very well behaved and is kennel trained for when I am not around. Last year, I had the amazing opportunity to intern at Sanctuary One in Jacksonville, Oregon for two months. Sanctuary One is a 55 acre animal sanctuary and care farm that provides a safe home for rescued farm animals and house pets. Although two months isn’t a very long time in the grand scheme of things, I believe that my time with Sanctuary One has given me the knowledge, experience and leadership qualities that I’ll need to thrive in this role. The Sanctuary was very fast paced most days and I had to constantly be on my toes to meet the demands of the animals, the staff, and the volunteers around me. While interning at Sanctuary One I shadowed their animal care manager in all areas, including: vaccinating and administering medication to all of the farm animals at the Sanctuary; keeping all of the barn spaces, dog kennels, and cat rooms clean and up to the high standards held by the board of directors who visited the Sanctuary weekly to inspect the farm; organized and met with school and other visitor groups; maintaining a widely variable feeding schedule for the Sanctuary’s diverse group of animals all with their own dietary needs; and general grounds maintenance when necessary. Because of that, I pay great attention to detail and am very thorough in all of my work. I believe those skills would be beneficial in any job I would undertake if accepted into this position. Each animal and person I have met has changed me in a way I can’t describe, and I believe it’s made me a much better human than I was before.
