Description:
Jerry Cates bit as pictured. It iis in very good condition with signs of use and vintage patina. The silver is engraved and shows good depth and color. 7" shanks from top to bottom with a 5 1/8" mouthpiece. Great shape, never bent or repaired. Marked Cates, 3digit numbered. This is a beautiful silver engraved snake bit from a skilled maker.



The headstall is spit eared heavy leather with an A. Pollard 5 buckle and keeper. The chinstrap is leather with braided rawhide. Spit leather reins.

This is a really good usin’ rig, worked well on a variety of my horses. They all got along with it good.



I listed this bit initially as a using rig. There has been interest in the Cates bit only, some pointing out that bits in this range are more popular with collectors who may not be interested in the headstall etc. I dont know,

it’s the best riding bit I’ve used over the years.

Also asked about condition. I took the pictures as it came out of the tack room. The bit hasn’t been cleaned or polished although I think it will clean-up nicely. There is no rust or pitting, just some age and using color. The bit itself is $1475 and with the rig pictured is $1675. I’ll cover shipping in the U.S. many thanks.
