She has a heart the size of Texas, a willing attitude and a sweet personality. Ruby is a 6 year old bay mare, 14.3hh, stout and beautifully built with a big hip, plenty of bone, and a pretty neck and head with a kind eye. She sells as GRADE, but when I bought her I was told she traces back to Colonel Freckles and Smart Little Lena. Ruby had 30 days with a cutting trainer at 3 years old and then was turned out until I bought her 6 months ago. She is extremely cowy so I had planned to train her for Ranch Horse Versatility shows, but with two small kids I just don’t have the time for her that she deserves. Ruby is gentle and kind, and has ever offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off. She is quick footed and catty and can have a bit of a motor, so she is not for beginners or children at this time. She is not at all mare-ish,and can be turned out with, trailered next to, or tied next to other mares or geldings and she will not cause any problems. Ruby is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. She rides quietly on a loose rein, and is very responsive to her rider’s cues. She has a very good stop and reverse, is good on both leads, and is starting to sidepass and work a gate. Ruby is ready for someone to take her to the next level and finish her out in any direction they choose, whether it is as a performance horse or a trail horse, she has the mind and ability to do it all. She wants to naturally be cowy, so she would make an excellent sorting horse. Ruby can be ridden out by herself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. She has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Ruby has good ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe. $3,500.
