If you are looking for a big, stout gelding to use on the ranch or ride on trails, then take a look at Gator. He is the real deal, broke the way a ranch horse should be broke and gentle enough for just about anyone. He is just as happy putting in a days work as he is taking a leisurely stroll down the trail, and would be an excellent horse for a weekend rancher to check cows on. Gator is a 15 year old bay gelding, GRADE, 15.3hh and close to 1200 pounds with a big hip, wide chest, and a ton of bone. He is the type of horse you can just pull out of the pasture, hop on and go without worrying about warming him up or getting bucked off. He rides just as good with a rope around his neck or a halter as he does with a bridle. Gator has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off. He spent the majority of his life on a ranch out in West Texas, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. We have ponied colts off of him and they can literally climb all over him and it won’t bother him. Gator is stout and tough, strong to the horn and good on the end of a rope, never getting excited or upset when working cattle. He is laid back and quiet, yet responsive, and will adjust himself to the level of his rider. Gator rides quietly on a loose rein, and knows how to travel out. He is nicely broke, with a good one handed neck rein and a good stop. Gator is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He is good on both leads, will sidepass, and work a gate. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Gator has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe. $4500.
