And it’s easy to see why, this 10 year old gelding is always the first to greet you at the gate, he is drop dead gorgeous and as sweet as they come. He absolutely LOVES people. In addition to his great personality, this gelding has a been there done that resume that makes him perfect for any job. “Waylon” has been owned by the same family since he was 4 years old, and even then he was purchased from a very good family friend. And since then this cute buckskin gelding has done and seen it all. The two younger girls in the family, both complete beginner riders, used him at riding camps, over night trail rides in the hills/woods of Arkansas and even at a few play days. Their grandfather used “Waylon” to help gather, ship, and brand cattle on their ranch. He has sorted pairs and been used to pen cattle at the stockyards. “Waylon” is so much fun out on the trail — he loves the water and has no problem crossing or even swimming across the deeper parts of it, steps over logs, and most importantly, he is very sure footed, he navigates himself and his rider through rocky or unstable terrain carefully and with much ease. He has also been used in a few hometown Fourth of July parades. “Waylon” is great in the arena as well, he has smooth gaits and transitions easily into each of them. Picks up both leads, has a good stop and back up. He has a hard to find, true one handed neck rein and goes right where you point him. Rides out very quiet whether he is alone or in a group, no matter if he is put in the front of the group or in the back, he is not barn or buddy sour. I haven’t found ANYTHING that he spooks at, in the video it was his very first time seeing the inflatable unicorn suit, or tarp and it was like he had seen it every day of his life. He is completely unbothered by cars, dirt bikes, atv’s, barking dogs, people, bikes, etc. “Waylon” stands to be bathed, groomed, saddled/unsaddled, bridled. He loads and unloads great, stands tied. He stands 14.3 hands and has good solid feet (currently barefoot but can be shod), there is no special care required for this guy. No special feeds, supplements, or care. He is very healthy and has always been taken care of. Up to date on all deworming, vaccinations, coggins, etc. He is completely sound, no maintenance and has never been sore even with hard riding. This gelding does NOT freshen up with time off, he has actually sat a year and saddled up and rode off with out missing a beat. So if you are looking for a safe, solid, handsome gelding for you or your family - this is your guy! Horses like “Waylon” are extremely hard to find and are quite frankly worth their weight in gold.
