Description:
The SL Ranch, a progressive and holistically managed ranch, based in Alturas, CA, is looking for a mechanic/equipment operator/ranch hand to be part of the team. The ranch runs a substantial herd mother cows, manages outside stocker cattle, and runs a herd of goats.



The Mechanic/Operator/Ranch hand position would primarily consist of maintaining a small fleet of ranch trucks, livestock trailers, some heavy equipment (backhoe, dump truck, excavator, etc.), and the handful of ranch UTVs and ATVs (4 wheelers and side-by-sides). Additional duties would consist of operating the ranch’s heavy equipment for various ranch projects including maintenance, as well as assisting with fencing, irrigating, and other tasks.



We are looking for someone who can work closely with the manager and other team members as the need arises, as well as have the initiative to complete projects alone. A willingness to learn and complete assigned duties is a must. A self-starter who is a great worker, who is honest, and who is dependable is going to be a huge asset to this operation.



Mechanical experience and ability to weld is a must. Ability to operate heavy equipment is preferred. Some experience with fencing and irrigating is desirable, however, training will be provided as needed for various ranch tasks.



Salary based on experience. Ranch housing provided. Health Insurance provided after introductory period.
