Merlot is a beautiful 15.3 hh draft cross gelding that is well broke to ride and drive. He is just 4 years old, and like any fine wine, he just gets better with age! He was bred and raised just a few miles from us. Merlot was sired by a blue roan Percheron stallion and is out of a blue roan AQHA mare. He spent his life on an Amish farm before we had the privilege to purchase him. He has been driven single, double and in multiples to complete farm work. Aside from his many duties under harness, Merlot as also used under saddle to check cattle and pastures. He is very soft in the face, knows his leads, and has a very smooth lope. Aside from his keen features and drop dead gorgeous red roan color, Merlot’s best characteristic may be his gentle, loving personality. He is always willing to please and ready to take on the days task whether that be under saddle of harness. Merlot is one of the coolest and gentlest geldings we have had the pleasure to offer.
