We are seeking a hard-working individual to assist with the care of our animals, including helping with the feeding and exercising of our three Arabian horses. This individual will also learn about raising German Shepherd puppies. Our ideal candidate should have a solid foundation in animal care and horseback riding, as well as a passion for learning and interest in small farm operations. **Please note that this is a work-trade position. Work is done in exchange for room, board (extra paid work available). Each intern is guaranteed one day off per week. Room and board includes a private room, utilities, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, food, and farm fun (basketball court, a dock on Loomis Lake with kayaks, and access to the beach). Daily tasks include but are not limited to: - Feeding and caring for the Flood Farm cows - Collecting and marketing duck eggs - Handling and socializing German Shepherd puppies (when applicable) - Daily scheduling, social media, and email operations - Tech assistance as needed We are very involved in a local theater group (Peninsula Association of Performing Artists), follow the Monks of New Skete’s ‘The Art of Raising a Puppy’, regularly exercise our horses on the beach, and use Parelli Natural Horsemanship techniques on the ground and in the saddle.
