You will communicate often with the Guest and Cattle Managers regarding needs and progress on current projects. You will communicate with vendors and service techs to source parts, get quotes and supervise appointments as needed.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Landscaping— includes mowing, weed whacking, trimming, fertilizing, seeding, filling holes, and regularly checking and repairing sprinkler systems.

• Building Maintenance—can range from plumbing and electrical repairs, light carpentry, refinishing decks, painting, chinking, and opening/winterizing properties & trailers.

• General Ranch Upkeep—checking propane and fuel levels and calling for fills, checking grey water, maintaining organized shop area, corral repairs and cleanup projects, and any other items that arise.

• Vehicles—servicing all ranch cars and generators and taking vehicles to town for major repairs.

• Equipment Maintenance—routinely servicing, sharpening mower blades, troubleshooting issues, etc.

• Other Duties— Please have a general and willingness to “lend a hand.” This is essential on our small team to help pick up slack and make things run more smoothly. Tasks may include: picking up items or equipment at our other ranch or troubleshooting electric fence and water pump issues for our cattle team.

Necessary Knowledge & Abilities

• Must have a good understanding of solar panels, inverters, generators and wells.

• Must have a basic working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and winterizing

• You must have a valid driver’s license.

• Must be comfortable operating equipment and machinery—power tools, mowers, tractors, towing trailers, etc.

• This is a physical job—you must be comfortable working with your hands and able to lift, dig, climb, and stand for long periods of time.

Who You Are: Traits and Values

• You are a detail-oriented self-starter who is great at seeing needs, prioritizing and proactively taking care of things.

• You are reliable, content working individually, and are able to maintain high standards and efficiency with little supervision.

• You like to learn and are open to receiving feedback as well as collaborating and sharing ideas with the greater team.

• You are a good communicator who is comfortable communicating needs, challenges, and new ideas respectfully with peers and managers.

• You are un-phased by our remote location and are excited to get out and explore this corner of southwest Montana.

• You understand that flexibility is key in this remote location and are able to adapt and re-prioritize when plans change, and challenges inevitably arise.

• You are excited to join conservation-minded team and are willing to embrace and uphold the values of the ranch while on property.
